By having a support system, a client can rely on others helping to hold them accountable. For example, social disclosure is when the client can rely on others to hold themselves accountable. By telling friends and family they can help to keep the client hinest and accountable. There is a fear of isspaointing or being seen unfit for the beahvior change. Also family can check in and ask about progress. Social pressures can also help or hinder behavior change. This pressure may make a client feel as if they need to avoid certain situations or placs because of this pressure. These situations may been seen as bad for the client because of potentional hinderance of progress.
