Beasts of a southern wild is an independent film and in my opinion, the storytelling of this film is very artistic. It is unconventional in that it is told from the perspective of a young, black girl living in extreme poverty. She is not a goal-oriented protagonist, but rather just a little girl attempting to survive her impoverished life. This film is also very spontaneous and improvisational, which is exhibited in that fact that the film was created with a very low budget with the director"s friends and family. No goal- oriented protagonist hush puppy does not have any goals other than survival. Director wanted to base the film on spontaneity had no preconceived notion of order and concept wanted to be improvisational and just let everything flow even let hush puppy create her own lines.
