48 million americans suffer a food-borne illness: 1 out of 6 people. Older adults or those with chronic diseases: compromised immune system. Those taking immuno-suppressive drugs: cancer and/or transplant patients. New regulations for food processors - prevent contamination. New regulations for food importers - ensure safety of products. New fda enforcement tools, including mandatory recall authority. Usda: meat, poultry, eggs sold across state lines. Fda: regulated food standards of food products (except what usda does) and bottled water, regulates food labeling and enforces pesticide use as established by epa. Cdc: works with public health officials to promote and educate the public about health and safety, also tracks outbreaks of food borne illness. Epa: regulates use of pesticide and which crops they - Temperature: keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold, 40-140 degrees.
