A bacterium called acetobacter naturally produces a chemical easily converted to vitamin c. It"s used to produce vitamin c commercially as its cheaper than extracting from fruit. Citric acid: a flavouring or preservative added to fruit- flavoured drinks. Naturally found in citrus fruits-but since fizzy drinks rarely use fresh fruit, citric added has to be added.
