By understanding childhood development, we are better able to understand how to ask children questions in legal cases, as well as how a child"s memory works. Children respond to dolls as if they are imaginary figures, and are less likely to respond with accurate information if these are used. Children also believe that if a question is asked many times, they would believe that they had given the wrong answer, and would change their answers. When children are told stories, they often believe them to be their own, as they have a hard time figuring out where information came from. Sexual abuse can be very harmful in the long run for psychological and physical aspects for children, even if they are false memories. Can understand emerging principles about human nature as they develop.
