Document Summary

The science that is basic to the other science is physics. The classic scientific method, followed by galileo and bacon is one of many ways that scientific discoveries are made. When someone says, "that"s only a theory," that person doesn"t know that a scientific theory is a(n) vast synthesis of well-tested hypotheses and facts. For a hypothesis to be scientific, it must have a test proving it wrong. Science differs from art and religion because it discovers and records natural phenomena. Progress today is faster than it was centuries ago. Two thousand years ago, people thought that earth did not move. One major reason for thinking this was that no force was large enough to move the earth. According to aristotle and his followers over centuries, earth was at the center of the universe. The first european to effectively challenge that notion was. Galileo"s conclusions about motion helped advance science because they were based on experiments rather than philosophical discussions.
