Were protected by france: still very easy for them to live in france. Dom-tom: overseas territories, status of french citizens, martinique & guadeloupe in caribbean; reunion in indian ocean. 1978: high court rules ban on family reuni cation as unlawful, family reuni cation has been most important to immigration in past 3 decades. Jus soli: the law of soil , children born in france to foreign parents automatically gain citizenship at age of majority.
