How work gets done business process. Same process can be formed with drastic different results depending on who does the work and what information and technology is being used. Processes are the vehicles for meeting customer needs and achieving organization goals. Systems thinking: focuses on how the thing being studied interacts with the other components of the system set of elements that interact to produce behavior. Systems thinking components: input, process, output, feedback, control. Visualizing wholes : visualize the whole and engage in systems thinking, visualize the relationships between the different parts and how they integrate to create value as a whole. Process flow diagrams: illustrates the sequence of accomplishments of the business process, steps and tasks are performed by more than one individual or function (cross functional) Business process model: graphic description of a process: as is process model, to be process model. Business process improvement (bpi): still retains current process as backbone: continuous improvement process.
