The main point of this chapter is established the foundation for future understanding, theories, development regarding criminology. This chapter may seem outdated as most of the early theories are found ancient, not applicable to the modern challenges of crime. Recently, politicians have taken a closer look at crime. Strange bedfellows are emerging for even bi- partisan for conservative republicans and liberal democrats. These are just some of the pertinent questions society is asking in america. Does the media have a role in influencing how we consider criminals and crime itself.
