32 views1 pages

Document Summary

Cell membrane: provides cell structure and packages the cytoplasm. Phospholipid bilayer: the outer layer made of phosphorus, fatty acids and nitrogen compounds (or proteins) Polar head or outer part of the membrane. Nonpolar head or inner part of the membrane. Endoplasmic reticulum: outer membrane of the cell nucleus. The purpose is for replication of dna which includes translation and transcription of nucleic acid messages. Smooth: there are 5 functions: lipid synthesis, detoxification of toxic substances, calcium storage and release in the cell for muscle contractions, nutrient absorption, and maintaining blood calcium levels. Glycocalyx: the layer of carbohydrate molecules bonded to proteins and phospholipids on all cells. Nucleus: contains the dna and rna necessary for cell replication.
