Document Summary

Big theme: similarity between the ussr and china"s wwii experience and its effect on their world perspective. Both countries experienced atrocities from the axis powers. Both were fixed on japan and germany respectively to prevent them from becoming threats again. +present japanese prime minister wants to recreate the military which is alarming. Both are insulted that not many appreciate the sacrifices they made to win wwii. There was a temporary truce between chinese communists and nationalists when japan invaded, ongoing civil war from 1927-1949. Communists (ccp) defended the north, nationalists (kmt) defended the south. It is necessary to understand the chinese civil war before wwii to understand what occurred in china after wwii. The communists in the north fought a guerilla war against the japanese while the nationalists fought a conventional war. After wwii there was peace everywhere in the world except for china.
