European powers had a major war with one another) Many people had lived such a comfortable life, saw war as an excitement because life had become so easy, routine and boring. Otto von bismarck, mastermind the unification of germany. None wanted to be caught without an ally. In the event of crisis all of these powers wanted to be seen as ready to fulfill their ally obligations. Serbia wanted to annex territories and bring their lost brothers home, triggers the war in 1914. Alliance system began to fall into place. Serbia allied with russia, russia wouldn"t let serbia be defeated by the austrian empire. Austria has a german ally, and they won"t accept defeat from russia. The arms race: too much is not enough!
