Orant position can be tracked back to 600 bce. Standing person, arms and hands facing out. Ancient pagan posed used to tell christian stories. In medieval time it was almost a holy position, ready to have god coming into you. Has been gravely damaged by isis within the last five years. Found there: terracotta of mithras (pagan), fresco of abraham (islam), wall painting of menorahs (jewish), fish with centaur (christian) Moses rescued - baby moses gets put into a river to save his life. Non-naturalistic showing of child (later seen a jesus) Sun and moon (pagan symbols) (symbol of eternity and there was supposedly an eclipse when jesus died) Good shepherd (in contrapostto), orants, story of jonah all in wall-fresco form on the ceiling. Paintings in boxes (like they did in pompeii/compartment structure) Hadrian roundels (hadrian hunting a boar and sacrificing to apollo) The last supper, but with constantine in the middle instead of jesus.
