Ligers and tigons- are examples of hybrids- hybrids do occur but mostly because of human interaction. Male tigons are sterile where the females are generally fertile. The fertility of a hybrid big cat females is well documented across a number of different hybrids. Race, subspecies or variety- within a speceies a genetically distinct geographic subunit of a species (the geographic variation is not graded but abrupt) It is hard to decide if two populations are the same or different species because they have the same ancestral population so it tough to tell if two organis(cid:373)s are differe(cid:374)t spe(cid:272)ies if they ha(cid:448)e(cid:374)"t e(cid:448)e(cid:374) tried to breed. They thought humans were different species but then when travel happened we found out humans could reproduce with other races making us the same species.
