Laws for welfare workers, child labor, overtime hours. Dabbled in foreign affairs but never really could make up his mind. At first didn"t want to be very interventionist. America was a unique nation and wanted to use the ideals and morals and beliefs to shape world. Raised in a very religious, southern household. Was a university professor, economics and such. Comes at things from a very idealistic, not real world view.
