Shaolin temple- young boy comes to temple, and knocks on an old white gate. Monk opened door and asked why he was there, he replies i want to become a novelist and leader. he wanted to learn the martial arts to defend his family. He really wanted to come in the temple and become a monk. He tells the monk he wants to learn wisdom and tranquility. Monk opens the gate the third time and asks the boy why do you want become a monk? . No significant improvement for nearly half after 2 years. Half took no course requiring 20 pages of writing during the last term. One quarter did not take any course requiring 40 pages of reading per week. Better to lead the monk"s life" (study alone; more reading/writing) Better for selective schools" and for more traditional arts &science majors". Mom, apple pie (everyone would agree that it"s a good thing)
