Symbolic interactionism: focuses on how face-to-face interactions create the social world, individuals act based on symbolic meanings attached to objects and people. Microsociology: symbolic interactionism falls under microsociology, local interactional context, face-to-face encounters, data: in-depth interviews, observations. Macrosociology: conflict theory, functionalism, large-scale dynamics, studying whole societies or large parts of them, often use statistical analysis.
