All fused together except when they get to a sinus. Extensions of dura mater separate the brain: Falx cerebri- separates the hemispheres of the cerebrum. Falx cerebelli- separates the two hemispheres of the cerebellum. Pia mater- very close to spinal cord;laying on it. Protects the brain and spinal cord against shock, chemical changes, physical injury.
