Look in the back of chapter for nerve pictures (individual). Examine what parts of the brain control our behavior, intelligence, memory. Made up of midbrain, pons, and medulla oblongata. continuous with the spinal cord. Diencephalon - superior to the brain stem; all included are. Cranial meninges are the same as (continuous with) spinal meninges, except the dura mater has layers. Dura mater has a parietal layer and meningeal layer. Superior saggital sinus is going to help drain the blood and will go to the jugular. Made up of the outer layer (dura mater) and inside layer (pia mater). All fused together except when they get to a sinus. Extensions of dura mater separate the brain: Falx cerebri- separates the hemispheres of the cerebrum. Falx cerebelli- separates the two hemispheres of the cerebellum. Pia mater- very close to spinal cord;laying on it. Protects the brain and spinal cord against shock, chemical changes, physical injury.
