Shaded- relief map- shows you the shapes of formations. Topographic map- shows the contours of elevation by using lines to define how high a certain area is. Satellite image map shows the image of places in which we physically can"t go, highly detailed including plants and rocks. Geologic map- shows the types and ages of rocks and feature by using various colors in a key to describe the various objects as well as a fault. Quantitative data- an accurate exact measurement done with numerical values (conveyed with numbers) Qualitative data- an observation and physical explanation such as color, texture, etc. (conveyed with words or sketches) Cross section- a specific location of a portion of a whole to depict something in more detail. Using a scale, the (relative) age by layering, Strength and type of a rock with the use of a key. It fails to show anything that changes the succession of rocks from oldest to new.
