A set of objects and there attributes, characteristics that are linked together by matter and energy. *open- matter and energy are free to move. Law of conservation- energy or matter cannot be created or destroyed. *a positive budget is going to see a increase in matter and storage. *a negative budget is a decrease in matter and storage. Lag period- amount of time between some change in the environments condition and the systems response to that change.
