Any sort of connection between 2 people that"s based on interpersonal communication. 2 types of relationships: choice, ones that we get to choose to participate in, friendships/romantic partners, circumstance, chosen for us in different situations, family/work. There is no perfect reason why we start a relationship. Theory of attraction: exists when we have a positive regard for another person, short term attraction, long term attraction, happens quickly, doesn"t last very long, won"t keep a relationship going for years. Investments: can be physical (money, can also be emotional (amount of time) Commitment: important, not an emotion, decision we make for the future, comes from our decision to remain in that relationship. Trust: without trust, our relationships won"t work, friendships will end if there"s some sort of failed trust. Stages of friendship: (fuck yeah: role limited interaction. You cannot replace one romantic relationship with another.
