Communication is the imparting, conveying, or exchanging of info. Via spoken words, sounds, writing, or visual symbols. Features of communication: communication is a process. Communication is always on going we also communicate unconsciously: communication consists of creating and responding to messages. We interpret and assign meaning the those messages: communication involves adapting to people and the environment. Position : a social label that tells people who we are, what are duties and rights are, and where we stand in comparison to others: occupational positions- the labels that we use to identify our occupation (ex. Student, banker, teacher, etc: family positions- labels that we use based on placement in the family (ex. Mother, brother, sister, etc: social positions- anything that"s not a occupational or family position (ex. Age , sex, girlfriend, boyfriend, republican, multi-millionaire, etc ) Role: a set of expected behaviors that are associated with a particular position.
