Document Summary

1. 4 units of measurement metric system used as system of measurement in most countries. Si units have seven base units from which all other are derived. Prefixes convert base units to measurement more appropriate. (move decimal left or right) Temperature is a measure of the average kinetic energy or the particles in a sample. Celcius scale is based on properties of water. 0 celcius= 32 farenheit= 273 k = freezing points. Kelvin is si unit based on properties of gasses no negative. Typically use liters or milliliters ex: 12 eggs in a dozen or 1000g in a 1kg. Liter is a cube 1dm long on each side. A milliliter is a cibe 1 cm long on each side. Typically measured in grams and milliliters or cm3. Volume can be calculated by difference (water displacement) 1. 5: uncertainty in measurement two kinds of numbers in scientific work exact numbers: values we know exactly because a standard has been defined.
