Students will apply physical scientific methods in chemistry, develop new quantitative and qualitative problem-solving skills and learn about contemporary chemistry at the molecular level. Course objective: chem 1001 is a general education course in the natural sciences area, physical science subdivision. Students will demonstrate knowledge of a broad survey of chemistry and its underlying principles. Using this knowledge, students will demonstrate deductive and inductive reasoning to explore and explain scientific principles. Students are expected to comprehend how knowledge is acquired and applied. The goal is for students to become more informed citizens, so that they can decide about policies related to chemical processes that play key roles in students" own lives, their environment and/or workplace. Course requirements: students are expected to attend all scheduled lecture periods.
