Document Summary

Bio lecture: inhibits growth, closes stomata, prevents germination. Ethylene: it"s the only plant hormone that"s a gas response to mechanical stress, promotes fruit ripening, programmed cell death leaf abscission, Brassinosteroids: involved in normal growth and development, xylem differentiation, and pollen tube elongation. Auxin in stem elongation: apical meristem produces auxin, transported down the shoot, produces a decreasing concentration gradient, high concentration of auxin inhibit stem elongation, low concentrations of auxin promote stem elongation by activating. Auxins are produced by the meristem and transported down the shoot. Auxins inhibit lateral shoot development cytokins stimulate lateral shoot development it has opposite impacts on root branching. Plant rhythms some plant processes (flowering etc) follow a daily cycle suggesting plants have rhythm. Photoperiodism some plants only flower when the days are long some flower only when the days are short. Short day plant is really a long night plant.
