KINE 416 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: Summative Assessment, Angina Pectoris, Perfusion
Document Summary
Explain the purposes of performing physical assessments on a client. Apply risk stratification criteria to an individual client to determine suitability for specific tests. By doing these things, the cpt has a broader perspective of the client: gathering baseline data. Clarify short, intermediate, and long term goals. Identify contraindications: goal and program development. Determine specific tests to give to measure various parameters of health and skill related fitness. Assessment can be formal or informal: formative and summative evaluation, assessment terminology. Formative evaluation- includes formal assessment with a specified test protocol along with subjective observations the cpt makes during the interactions. Summative evaluation- made when a client completes a specified training period, class, or season. Cpt must select tests appropriate to each client while recognizing that some will be more interested in personal progress than in multiple formal assessments. Reliability- the measure of repeatability or consistency of a test or observation: test-retest method- common method of determining reliability.
