Geography of agriculture: planted, protected, cared for, and used by humans, genetically distinct from wild ancestors, selectively bred by early farmers. Domestication: not in response to hunger, time to experiment and care for plants and animals. Invented by people with plenty of food and semi-permanent settlements. Independent invention in several locations and times: spreads through contagious diffusion, first in fertile crescent mesopotamia and nile river valley.
