SOC 32 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Putamen, Nicotine, Cerebellar Vermis
Document Summary
The circle of willis sits inferior to the brain. The circle of willis is named after thomas willis. It then differentiates into the forebrain, midbrain and hindbrain. At around 50 days in the womb, the chambers begin to expand and proliferate. There are deep and lateral fissures that separate some of these lobes. The occipital lobe is the lobe in charge of vision. It is located at the back of the brain. The temporal lobe lies under the temple of the head. It is one of the important parts of the cortex in charge of hearing. There is a higher surface area for the cell body of neurons in the grey matter. The white matter contains the axons of the neurons which are myelinated. The cerebral cortex is divided into sections with important functions. Different cell bodies differ in histology and shape depending on these functions.
