Psychedelics: lsd (lysergic acid diethylamide, magic mushrooms, ayahuasca, peyote, ibogaine. Swiss chemist albert hofmann experimented with ergot mushrooms which seemed to have blood loss and migraine headache preventing properties. Combined lysergic acid from ergot mushroom with other compounds. Developed new drugs for migraines, circulatory disorders and bleeding after child birth. After combining lysergic acid with diethylamide (used in medicine to stimulate circulation) - Long tradition of usage in religious ceremonies in south and central america. Shorter acting than lsd, therefore one of the most used psychedelics in human studies. 45 times less potent than lsd, 66 time more potent than mescaline. Psychoactive ingredient in several species of plants in native south america. Consumed by: shooting into eye, drinking ayahuasca tea, inhalation/injection/snorting of pure dmt (orally mao inhibitor necessary to have longer lasting effects since dmt is broken down by gastrointestinal tract) Ayahuasca tea made from a mixture of leaves that combine dmt and maoi.
