Document Summary
06-11-2019: gender in politics: (under)representation of women in british. In almost every country in the world there is no parity between women and men in representation. The situation is getting better in both the uk and abroad. Last year just under 20 elected head of governments that are female but there are over 190 countries in the un less than 10% of countries had a head of government that was woman. Only 59 countries in the last 60 years have had a female head of government. Much more than it used to be but still fairly low. Other inequalities in politics e. g. gender pay gap particularly bad in the uk. But improvements have been made for example in parliamentary representation. Nordic countries do best, the americas do better than europe (mostly latin america), europe doesn"t do much better than africa, arab countries do worst, but not as bad as expected.
