More specifically, it can be determined as the temporal correlation between spatially remote neurophysiological events, expressed as deviation from statistical independence across these events in distributed neuronal groups and areas. Functional connectivity measure is a measure of temporal correlation among brain areas to infer which brain areas likely to interact e. g. , ppi. The ppi method was proposed by friston and colleagues in 1997. Is a brain connectivity method for functional brain imaging data, mainly functional. It estimates context-dependent changes in effective connectivity (coupling) between brain regions. Thus, ppi identifies brain regions whose activity depends on an interaction between psychological context (the task) and physiological state (time course of brain activity) of the seed region. The connectivity of brain regions that are physically or anatomically attached to one another is referred to as structural connectivity.
