Document Summary
Chapter 1 communication in business: managers, models, modes. Four core management functions: plannings, organising, leading and motivating, controlling. Communication constitutes all the activities associated with these functions. In order to get a strategy off the ground, any manager needs to engage in communication: talking and listening, writing and reading, arguing, persuading, cajoling, requesting or commanding, as the case may be. Implementing the strategy will involve constant communication > reports, meetings. All the structures that make up organisations, and the process that keep them going, are created through, and sustained by communication. 1. 1. 2 managerial roles viewed through the communication lens. Leader: taking responsibility for the work of others; motivating employees.
