Document Summary
Entrepreneurial orientation fundamental set of strategy-making process dimensions that underlies nearly all entrepreneurial processes. Refers to the processes, practices & decision-making activities that lead to new entry. Any firm that engages in an effective combination of these eo dimensions is entrepreneurial. Firms can also be too entrepreneurial when they take risks that aren"t accord with the market environment. Tendency toward independent & autonomous action of an individual/team in bringing forth an idea/vision and carrying it through to completion. Ability to be self-directed in the pursuit of opportunities. Depends on how much freedom is granted to the individual/team. Requires strong leaders/ unfettered teams or creative individuals who are disengaged from organisational constraints. Autocratic autonomy decisive & risky actions are taken by a strong leader. Autonomy is implied by rights of ownership but may depend on level of centralisation/ extent of delegation (strong central authority = more autonomy = more entrepreneurial)
