A S L 3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: Moodle, Standard Anatomical Position, Anatomical Plane
Document Summary
Open lab sessions available for additional support (non-guided and found on moodle) Functional anatomy is about describing how and why we move. Understanding of the human musco-skeletal system and how structure applies to function. Application in sport, performance analysis, injury prediction & prevention and rehabilitation. 2d planes divide the body in half by mass enabling us to describe movement in 2d shapes (movement happens within a certain plane) Sagittal(median plane) = right and left sides. Frontal (coronal plane) = front and back. Transverse (horizontal plane) = top and bottom. An axis is always perpendicular to a plane and allows movement to occur around it (infinite line) Three that are each perpendicular to a cardinal plane. Movement is medial (internal) rotation and lateral (external) rotation. Plantar flexion = push toes away from shin (downwards) Other words for flexion and extension (at ankle) Eversion = turn the sole of the foot out (abduction)
