Education issues: 1970s legal for schools to refuse enrollment to children with disabilities. 1975 public law 94-142 (education for all handicapped children act) 1990 individuals with disabilities education act (idea) 2004 individuals with disabilities education improvement act. Individually tailored program sensitive to specific needs: least restrictive environment (lre, a setting that is as similar as possible to a classroom in which children who do not have a disability are educated. Inclusion: educating a child with special education needs full-time in regular classroom. Involves external incentives such as rewards and punishments. Intrinsic motivation: based on internal factors such as self-determination, curiosity, challenge, and effort, research supports the importance of intrinsic motivation in achievement, students are motivated to learn when they are, praise can enhance students" intrinsic motivation over time. Cognitive processes: sustained attention, effort, and task persistence, sustained attention, ability to maintain attention to selected stimulus for prolonged time.
