(cid:863) Soon after, he met haydn, who arranged for him to come to vienna to study composition. Despite his gruff nature, he was loved by many powerful members of the nobility in vienna. He was the first important musician to make his career without any kind of patron or regular employer. Beetho(cid:448)e(cid:374) ear(cid:374)ed (cid:373)o(cid:374)ey (cid:271)y : took composition jobs on commission, he was paid extremely well as a teacher, also received a large number of extravagant gifts, put on lots of concerts got a % of the profits.
