Chimps are only ones to hunt, rely entirely on senses to find food. Subject to natural selection in same way as morphology. Average proportion of genes shared between 2 individuals. Females distribute themselves based on resources (food) Males distribute based on where females are. Females too far so guarded by one male. During day group breaks apart to forage. Killing of infants either by members of group or members of rival group. Difference in body size/ form between sexes. Degree of male competition= degree of dimorphism. Competitive males and distant fathers: multi male groups. Male reproductive success linked to # of female mates. High ranking males attempt to monopolize conceiving females. Needed to share ecological information and complex social lives of primates.
