Earlier centuries believed little could be done to eliminate war, slavery, hereditary monarchies, genocide, and the violent oppression of the poor, women and minorities. Today: people believe that humans can reduce violence in most, if not all, of its forms. Peace studies is one part of this growing peace network. Small but welcomes diverse people and perspectives to assist with its work. Some people in peace studies specialize in some in education. Peace: built through right relationships and harmonious associations. Peace is more than the mere absence of direct, physical violence. Latter relationships between humans and the natural world are often referred to as peace ecology.
