If a child was sick, the whole family was turned away. Stemmed from a need for a strong central organization. District ethnic captains precinct bosses political bosses. Politicians handed out jobs in order to get support/votes. Political fortunes in the hands of a few. Men had saloons, bars and sports clubs. Social centers to bond with friends and construct masculinity playing darts, billiards or boxing.
