Document Summary
A cautionary note on puritan society the salem witchcraft trials of 1692. You don"t burn witches you have to hang them -19 people are hung. Begins in the home of reverend samuel paris the minister in salem. Tituba and adolescent girls to tituba was salem paris"s slave. Betty paris and abigail williams were thinking about who they were going to be married to and if they"d make it through childbirth. Tituba tried to give the girls a peace of mind and brought a glass of water to the table. She breaks and egg into the glass and tells the girls the future (what they want to hear. ) Betty looks in the glass and sees a coffin. She runs around and goes in a coma then abigail and the other girls start to share the same symptoms. The doctor says nothing is physically wrong so it must be witchcraft. He takes tituba out into the shed and questions her.
