Photography is a popular art as well as an elite art. It was invented by louis jacques daguerre and joseph ni pce of france in 1839. Their method of photography was using sensitized metal, which was unable to be copied. 1834 using a paper negative process, which is how we know photography now before the digital boom. George eastman refined talbot"s process making roll film, which eventually led to motion pictures. The process of film photography is as follows: a camera stocked with light-sensitive film, process/develop the film to make a negative, use the negative to make prints on light sensitive paper. Until recently, it was the dominant form of permanent image. Have taken over the photography industry, and are pretty much everywhere thanks to smart phones (example below was taken with my iphone). A genre is a type/category used to classify a medium (like print, radio, television, film, photography, (music)).
