One of the tissues capable of regeneration (can replace itself when damaged) Squamous epithelial cells: cells thin, flat. Simple squamous: (one thick layer) single layer: function. Absorption, filtration, secretion: location alveoli, lines lymphatic, and blood vessels, (thin layer of cells because we want something to diffuse quickly ex. in kidney and lung) Cuboidal epithelial cells: cells short, eight-sided cylinders.
