Document Summary

Landslide a sudden movement of rock and debris down a non-vertical slope. Snow avalanche a turbulent cloud of snow mixed with air. Rock/debris falls free-falling of a mass detached from a steep vertical cliff. Possible factors for changing the slope strength: Surface water comes from rain, melting ice/snow, and groundwater, eventually flowing down. Permanent stream its floor lies below the water table (groundwater level) Ephemeral stream its floor lies above the water table (can be empty during a dry season) A large volume of water causes more erosion. Fluvial deposits: sediments transported by a stream. Cut bank the outside bank of the meander, which is continuously undergoing erosion. Point bar a wedge-shaped deposited of sediment on the inside of the meander. Sediment is most likely to be deposited on the inner banks of the meander. Shaping and curving the earth"s surface; maintaining life. Deserts cover 25% of earths land surface. Important to know we have both hot and cold deserts.
