She wants public schools to basically be private schools. As growth rate declines, competition heats up. The narrow the margins are the more vulnerable you are to price increase on your input: differentiated/commodity. Scale: drives your cost structure, if you are not producing enough it drives your cost up if there are fewer to purchase. Brand loyalty: most difficult to overcome, sometimes has nothing to do with money, example: harley davidson. Technology: patents are becoming useless because companies are leapfrogging each other, leapfrog. Example: cellphones are just leapfrogging each other with features that are put in the phone: this is a moving target, companies still use blackberry because of the security it has for the company. People cannot use it to find your location.
