On january 22, 2013 my brother jordan committed suicide. I was a junior in high school and he was a sophomore at uni. Depression runs in our family but we had no idea that he was suffering from it. Shortly after my father and i noticed my mother slurring speech and not remembering simple things. It gradually got worse to the point where she was not able to speak, eat, or understand anything we tried to communicate to her. I would come home on the weekends/summers to help my dad take care of her. This entailed things such as brushing her teeth, helping her get dressed, feeding her (we usually tried smoothie like things but that was usually choked on as well) and dealing with her escalations. She would be very frustrated over possible things like not being able to communicate. We brought her to countless doctors and no one really had an idea of what was wrong.
