Document Summary

Freud is known for an encompassing theory of the mind. Two main ideas involve the existence of an unconscious motivation and the notion of unconscious conflict. A freudian would say there are desires and motivations that govern your behavior that you may not be aware of. You may want to marry them bc they remind you of your parent or want to get payback. If your unconscious was smart, this would be fine. According to freud, there are 3 processes going on in your head and they emerged developmentally: id-present at birth and is the animal part of the self. Wants to eat, drink, pee, poop and have sexual satisfaction. Some desires are i inappropriate and youre punished for them. angel in head tells you when things are wrong and devil telling you its right. Freud"s theory is a theory of everyday life.
