Document Summary

Final test is on chapters 10, 11, and 19. There is a quest for unity and to be one with everything around us. If this is not the case, alienation occurs. Holism of mind and body; not a dualism where there is conflict. People give things their own subjective meanings they cannot be reduced to biology or environment. Subjective meanings = world designs (assumptions of life) It is important to understand a person from their subjective point of view. Focus more on the future than the past. If one is happy with themselves, that is what counts. It does not matter if others perceive the person as strange or weird. Everyone faces difficulties, challenges, and defeats (everyone is thrown) People should always be looking for possibilities in their life, despite what is thrown at them. Being-able-to-be moving towards dreams due to a focus on possibilities and not on being a victim.
