Named for spider web-like arrangement of collagen & elastic fibers. Continuous with arachnoid mater of brain through foramen magnum. Subarachnoid space space between arachnoid mater & pia mater, contains cerebrospinal fluid (3) pia mater inner most meninge; thin transparent connective tissue layer that adheres to surface of spinal cord & brain. Helps bring in nutrients to the spinal cord.
