Hard too come to terms with negative aspects of ourselves. Carl rogers person - centered/humanistc approach = the exploration stage of 3 stage model. Psychoanalytic/dynamic approaches = is the the insight stage. Understanding past/childhood experiences and relationships with signi cant others to inform current patterns. Emphasis on defenses allows for helping the client cope with moderate level of defenses while also having healthier interactions with others. Last stage is working towards stage so this helps give a picture of what the change would bring and if it"s worth it.
