Other group jj"s book is a critique of power and planning. 1990s -- new gen. of planners reject corbu. Congress of the new urbanism (cnu) founded in 1993 (deliberate contrast to le corbusier"s ciam) Release a document (deliberate contrast to ciam"s athens charter) called charter of new urbanism. Key text - paul davidoff, advocacy and pluralism in planning (1965) Facilitates -- community involvement (particularly disempowered groups). dialogue. Educates -- translates complex policy into accessible language. Advocates --- for groups normally left out of planning process. Goal -- bottom-up plans local stakeholders invested in project. But all us urban planning today some sort of participation.
